The most successful team in the history of UK women’s basketball, Sheffield Hatters have rewritten the record books once again in its 50th anniversary year.

The Hatters’ first piece of silverware came at the beginning of 2011 in the Women’s National Cup final. The Hatters retained the trophy they won 12 months ago by beating the Nottingham Wildcats 87 – 55 at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield.

The next few months saw Coach Vanessa Ellis and her players concentrating on retaining the Division One title – and they did so in style.

In early April, following an unbeaten record at home, the Hatters lifted the league trophy, only losing one game all season. Far from taking it easy before the upcoming play-offs, the Hatters recorded a comprehensive 95-55 win over Barking Abbey Leopards on their home court at All Saints Sports Centre in Sheffield.

Keen to continue their dominance, the Health365 Hatters finished the season in style by adding the play-off trophy to complete a famous treble, thrashing the UWIC Archers 91 - 69 in the final at the Amaechi Centre, Manchester, in mid-April.
